Seward County District Court is accepting applications for the position of Clerk Associate III!

This is a responsible, complex, and varied clerical position of moderate to advanced difficulty.

Work involves composing court documents, reports and maintaining court records with insight of case progression, financial components, jury management, and the appeal process. An in-depth understanding and the ability to communicate that knowledge by providing counter and telephone assistance to clients and attorneys of more complex issues of the divisions within the office including criminal, civil, domestic case work, jury management, appellant work for the Nebraska Court of Appeals. Preparation of ensuing reports. Training will be provided to acquire the certification required to serve as a passport agent and assist applicants. The employee works as a team and independently. General supervision is provided by the Clerk of the District Court for compliance with departmental policies.

Applicants must be 19 years of age or older, be able to legally perform work in the U.S., have a high school diploma or GED, and must have experience in performing clerical work.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
• Knowledge of spelling, punctuation and grammar, as well as various forms, documents and pleadings
• Knowledge of the legal process and the judicial system
• Knowledge of JUSTICE database system or willingness to learn database
• Ability to maintain routine legal records and files including computer word processing and database files.
• Ability to prepare routine legal forms and documents
• Ability to perform simple arithmetic computations; complete varied posting and indexing operations.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and the general public
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Ability to maintain high level of accuracy
• Ability to type 45 words per minute

 

  • Hourly wage: $20.97 or more depending on experience.
