MCLC Center Director

Milford Childhood Learning Center (MCLC) is a child care center serving children 6 weeks through preschool. We are hiring a Center Director. MCLC is a community-founded, debt-free nonprofit built to give Milford families reliable, high-quality care close to home. Our director will join a dedicated team and an engaged board invested in the center’s long-term success.

About the Role
The Center Director leads MCLC’s daily operations and team so every child receives safe, consistent, high-quality care. We’re looking for a people-focused leader who brings structure, supports staff growth, and builds strong partnerships with families.

Position Details
$23–$26 per hour, based on experience
32–40 hours per week; overtime as assigned

Reports to the MCLC Board of Directors
Center hours: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–6:00 PM

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with Nebraska DHHS child care licensing regulations, including ratios, staff records, background checks, and safety drills
• Hire, train, schedule, and support staff, keeping every classroom in ratio
• Oversee and support lead teachers and foster a positive, open-communication workplace
• Oversee curriculum, positive guidance practices, and program quality
• Manage enrollment, tuition billing, and family communication
• Manage the center within the board-approved budget and oversee facility upkeep
• Attend quarterly board meetings and keep the board informed on enrollment, staffing, finances, and licensing

Qualifications

• Applicants must be at least 19 and meet Nebraska DHHS director requirements through one of the following:
• A bachelor’s or associate degree in early childhood education, education, or child/youth development
• A bachelor’s degree in another field with 6 credit hours in early childhood education or a related field
• A Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential
• A high school diploma or GED, 3,000 hours of experience with children, and 36 clock hours of approved training
• Experience supervising staff in a licensed child care center is preferred. Employment requires satisfactory background and registry checks.
