About CASA

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) recruits, trains, and supports community volunteers who advocate for the best interests of children involved in the child welfare system. Our volunteers work one-on-one with children to ensure their voices are heard and their needs are met in court and beyond.

Position Summary

The Volunteer Coordinator plays a critical role in advancing CASA’s mission by recruiting, training, and supporting dedicated volunteers who serve children in our community. This position manages the full volunteer lifecycle—from outreach and onboarding through ongoing supervision and engagement—and works closely with staff, community partners, and the courts.

This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, relationship-driven, and passionate about supporting volunteers in meaningful, mission-centered work.

Key Responsibilities

Volunteer Recruitment & Outreach

  • Develop and implement volunteer recruitment strategies to meet program needs
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners, organizations, and referral sources
  • Represent CASA at community events, presentations, and outreach activities

Volunteer Training & Onboarding

  • Coordinate and facilitate pre-service training for new volunteers
  • Manage volunteer screening, background checks, and onboarding requirements
  • Ensure volunteers meet all program and court-mandated standards

Volunteer Support & Retention

  • Provide ongoing supervision, guidance, and support to active volunteers
  • Monitor volunteer engagement, performance, and compliance
  • Address volunteer questions, concerns, and challenges in a timely and supportive manner
  • Support volunteer recognition and retention efforts

Program Administration

  • Maintain accurate volunteer records and documentation
  • Track volunteer hours and program metrics
  • Collaborate with program staff to ensure volunteers are well-matched and supported
  • Assist with reporting requirements as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, nonprofit management, or a related field preferred
  • Experience working with volunteers, programs, or community-based services strongly preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
  • Comfort working with sensitive and confidential information
  • Commitment to CASA’s mission and values

Other Duties as Assigned
● Assist Executive Director on special projects only as needed. These projects may include attending meetings for the Executive Director, assisting with fundraising, and other non-VOCA activities. All other duties assigned by the Executive Director.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Flexible work arrangements, including hybrid scheduling
  • Occasional evening or weekend availability may be required for trainings or events

OTHER:
All employees must have access to a vehicle, possess a valid driver’s license, and provide proof of insurance. The position does involve travel throughout Southeast Nebraska CASA’s service area. All employees must submit to a criminal history background check prior to being hired and throughout their employment at Southeast Nebraska CASA.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $41,600.00 - $47,840.00 per year
